| Transient simulation of AC Corrosion phenomena |
Elsyca R&D team has developed a time accurate numerical model for the quantification of the AC phenomena. It uses a multi-ion transport model for describing the decrease of the spread resistance around the defect and the diffusion of produced oxygen and hydrogen towards the bulk of the soil.
The model is unique in its capability to describe at the micro scale level the time dependent build up of passive film and rust for any given shape defect.
This project, supported by Gasunie (The Netherlands), is a joint collaboration with SGK (Switzerland). For the next phases, support will be received from other major European gas operators and the efforts will target laboratory and field validation.

| Offshore pipeline Cathodic Protection with bracelets anodes |
This project was presented by Total during last NACE conference (TEG166). The objective was to compare the ISO15589 standard with numerical models, which include seawater resistivity and polarization. The deviation analyzed can be utilized to design offshore pipeline cathodic protection systems.
